How advanced is this
system? Lets start with the Skiff micro-monitors. They are designed
with a single 3.5 inch full range transducer that produces accurate
linear frequency response up to 20,000 cycles. The Skiffs are
rare true point source, time coherent, minimum phase, crossoverless
loudspeakers. And the use
of a single full range transducer means all six monitors have
identical timbral and dispersion characteristics and no Doppler
distortion. Few loudspeakers systems regardless of price can
match the imaging and transient performance and musicality of
the EXP-X 6.1. It produces an almost limitless sweet spot allowing
everyone in the audience to experience great theater.
The EXP-X, which is based on the NSM EXP subwoofer, provides
bass management that allows the Skiffs to play unconstrained
by low bass reproduction.The EXP-X is one of the few subwoofers
that can keep pace with the fast transient attack of the Skiffs.
It uses a custom, magnetically shielded, long-throw woofer in
a bandpass design to produce tuneful, extended, articulate bass.
The amplifier is full featured and has excellent dynamic head-room
to handle percussive bass. It has switchable voltage, variable
phase, volume and crossover control, line and speaker level inputs
and outputs, and a sound sensing auto-on power switch.
Both the Skiff and EXP-X
cabinets are finished in beautiful matching satin black lacquer
finish with rounded edges that provide a soft glow under room
light. The contemporary satin black finish of the EXP-X 6.1 will
complement nearly all decors.
